women's perfume, perfume bottles

I used to love going to my grandmother's house and hiding away in the upstairs bedrooms. My mom's old room was filled with various items that I could gaze upon all day. Included in these items were old perfume bottles.

They used to make women's perfume bottles in varying shapes and sizes. By shape, I don't mean squares and circles. I mean 3D shapes. If the perfume had something to do with a flower, the bottle was in the shape of a flower. If the perfume was extremely feminine in its scent, the bottle was likely to be in the shape of a shoe or a dress or a hat. I remember bottles shaped like dogs, cars, and more! My grandmother had quite a collection of these. I find myself wishing that I had found a way to keep them. I think that they ended up in a yard sale one summer when we were cleaning out her attics.

This is one packaging promotion that I would love to see resurrected! I get excited when I'm shopping online and find women's perfume in fancy bottles!
