Perfume Bottles
As a young girl I remember looking at my mother’s collection of perfume bottles and thinking how lovely they were. They would cover her dresser in her bedroom, like colorful playthings. I would bug my mom to let me play with them. I never really cared that they actually held perfume. I just liked how they looked. When I got older I discovered the attraction of perfume, not just the bottles. Then I was always bugging my mother to let me have access to her perfume bottles, not to play with them but to try them. Sometimes she would let me try one of the perfume bottles, sometimes not. I just remember how much I enjoyed it when she would let me try a perfume. It would usually be the same as the one she would be wearing. They are good memories, to be cherished and shared. Today I caught both my girls looking longingly at my collection of perfume. It seems it is time to give my girls the same positive memories of Mommy’s bottles of perfume. I let them have some supervised play time with a couple of the bottles. I guess it will not be long before they start showing interest in the perfume, not just the bottles.
