perfumes and colognesHave you ever wondered what the world would be like if we did not have deodorant, soap or perfumes and colognes? I took human biology A level at college in England. My lecturer, Dr. Carmichael, once told us that there was no need to use perfumes and colognes or even soap. He thought that the only thing necessary to get clean was warm water. He was of the opinion that deodorants, soaps, shower gels, perfumes and colognes only masked our natural pheromones.
Despite Dr. Carmichael’s opinion I do not think I would like to live in a world without products such as perfumes and colognes. You see I have always had quite a weak stomach. Hence I would hate to live in a world that smelled of stale body odor. I think that if forced to live in such a world I would probably become a hermit so that I would only have my own funky armpits to smell. Perhaps I am wrong, though. Maybe it is possible to get used to such aromas to the degree that you stop perceiving them. What do you think life would be like in a world without perfumes and colognes?
