This morning when I got up for work, I found my daughters perfume bottle sitting on the counter in the kitchen. I noticed that it was almost empty and couldn’t figure out why she’d left the perfume bottle sitting there. She’d never done that in the past, so I wasn’t sure. I figured she either wanted me to order her some new perfume, or that she’d used it last night and forgot to take the bottle back to her bedroom. Either way, I put it aside while I cooked breakfast and figured I’d ask her when she got up. I was actually in the middle of making Belgian waffles for everyone when she came strolling into the kitchen and wasn’t thinking about the perfume bottle, but she brought it up. She asked if I’d found her perfume bottle on the counter and I said that I had and was curious what I needed to do with it, if anything. She asked if I would be willing to go online and check to see what the prices were for the perfume because she couldn’t afford buying it at the mall anymore and paying full retail. I smiled, and even though I didn’t say it, I realized that my daughter is finally learning the value of a dollar.
